Sahar launches her new collection at the Summer Abaya Trunk Show.

From what was the simplest black dress used to cover the body, to what has today become an exotic fashion statement, the Abaya has gone through many stages of transformation over the years. Modern-day designs put abayas on the same level as ball-room gowns on the fashion dais. And now on the auspicious occasion of Ramadan, Sahar Madani’s new abaya collection takes it to the next level.

“An Abaya today is not just a cultural garment, but also a bold fashion statement. Women are constantly looking for new and innovative designs in the abaya product range and we’re giving it to them”, said Sahar Madani.  The new collection was unveiled on June 13, 2015, at the Summer Abaya Trunk Show on Saturday. The event was held at The Address Downtown Dubai, the city’s premier five star hotel, and attended by the region’s top fashion personalities and VIP ladies. Through her designs, Sahar wants to give women the voice to express their uniqueness. “What a woman chooses to wear in terms of colour or design, it showcases her personality. Just by looking at her you can tell if she’s classy, modern or an eccentric and outgoing person”, says Sahar. “The amount of detailing and the way we’ve used the fabric, makes our abayas extremely expressive and unique. In this region and the GCC where most women wear abayas, my collection empowers them and allows them to express themselves.” she added. 

For this collection, Sahar drew inspiration from the different aspects of summer – the breeze, the bright sun, light cotton fabrics. The abayas are made using cotton, which is perfect to beat the summer heat. The collection is available in many different colours along with black and the designs include a mix of Bisht-styled cuts, which allow women to leave the abayas open or closed as per their preference, without being too tight on their body.

Sahar believes that looking beautiful is not a luxury, but the right of every woman. And her knowledge in design coupled with her creativity and experience in advertising has helped her take this philosophy to the main stage. Sahar is her own worst critic and believes in no half measures. Her range of designs stand for confidence and femininity. The Trunk Show also saw the participation of other big names like Gabs Bags and Azur Spa. While Gabs showcased its new collection of bag designs which symbolized creativity and unconventional experimentation, Azur Spa presented its wide range of beauty and wellness services. All-in-all, the evening provided a platform for big brands from various industries to come together and unveil their latest offerings.
