Noor Dubai examines thousands, conducts more than 400 eye surgeries in Morocco.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 24 May, 2015: Noor Dubai Foundation, a charitable organization, based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) concluded its blindness prevention program in Ain-Chock, Casablanca, Kingdom of Morocco.
This is the second mobile eye camp conducted by the organization in 2015 and the camp was supported by Dubai Islamic Humanitarian Foundation (a subsidiary of Dubai Islamic Bank).
The treatment programs provided by Noor Dubai Foundation, are in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to deliver support and assistance to those in need.
Dr. Manal Taryam, Board Member and CEO of Noor Dubai Foundation highlighted the achievements made ??by the Foundation during the eye-camp at Morocco, said: “This is the second mobile eye camp that Noor Dubai Foundation has held in the Kingdom of Morocco. During this camp, held at Mohammed Sekkat Hospital, Ain-Chock, Casablanca, we conducted 4200 examinations (53% were females), 1500 people were given eye-glasses and medications, and 404 surgeries were conducted to treat patients who suffered from treatable blindness and visual impairment.”
Dr. Taryam said surgical intervention was needed for cases such as cataract. She explained that the leading cause of blindness in the Kingdom of Morocco is cataract and that 2.1 per cent of the population, which is approximately 300,000 individuals, are affected by it. The second leading cause of preventable blindness is refractive errors.
Ain-Chock is a district, located at the southern suburb of Casablanca, Morocco. The district covers an area of 28.89 square kilometers (14.5 square miles) and has a population 253,496.
Dr. Taryam mentioned that the Foundation will conduct another two-day visit in July to follow-up on patients who went underwent eye surgery.
