UAE Team Competes in Prague in Global Management Challenge

April 26, 2015. The setting of the event is a splendid art-deco restaurant in the heart of the city. The ambiance of the room was electric as the MC announced the winning teams.

The event marks the 32nd edition of Global Management Challenge, the world’s largest strategy and management competition. The Challenge consists of a management simulation in which teams of three to five university students and young professionals are given complete control of a virtual company with the objective of obtaining the highest investment performance for its shareholders.

Teams of students and managers from 22 countries and four continents gathered in Prague to compete for the global championship of  Global Management Challenge.

Team Wadi, of Wadi.com the winner of UAE Global Management Challenge, participated in the competition alongside teams from France, Spain, Russia, Hong-Kong, Portugal, Estonia and Brazil to name just a few. In March 2015, Team Wadi, a group of management professionals from Wadi.com, an online fashion store, qualified as the winner of the UAE competition  and won the honor to participate in this prestigious event. Team Wadi had competed against more than 70 teams comprising over 300 participants from companies and universities around the UAE, such as DP World, Emirates Global Aluminium, New York University of Abu Dhabi and Hult Management Institute. Team Wadi won first place followed by The Achievers from Higher Colleges of Technology and Team DP World in third place. In addition, the jury selected an Emirati team, EGA2, which was recognized for its achievement, consistency of performance and dedication throughout the competition.

The winners of the international finals of Global Management Challenge this year are a team of managers from Russia. Next year's global competition will take place in Macau, and it represents yet another opportunity for the 2016 UAE winners of the competition to come home with the trophy, thus affirming the country's relentless desire to excel in anything and everything. Such a triumph would undoubtedly harness enough interest from the business community to give the UAE a real chance to host the international event.
