International Conference Sports for Women and Getty Images announce Sports Photography Exhibition 2015

Exhibition to be a part of the 3rd International Conference of Sports for Women

Photography competitions open to Emirati Women with a chance to win cash rewards and an internship with a Getty Images photographer

Abu Dhabi, 22 April 2015: International Conference Sports for Women (ICSW) under the aegis of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA), in collaboration with Getty Images, has launched a new initiative aligned closely with its mission of promoting sports amongst women in the UAE and regionally.

ICSW 2015 will be hosting a photography exhibition with a difference. Emirati women photographers (professionals and amateurs) who have taken photos of women in sports in the region are invited to submit their work on www.fbma.ae . The theme of the photographs should be linked to the general theme of the conference, which is Sports without Barriers.

Twenty of the best submissions will be shortlisted by a panel of judges, comprising of one representative from Getty Images, two representatives of FBMA and one representative of twofour54, and exhibited during ICSW 2015 at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.

The winner will be chosen on the basis of technical skills and originality and will be the recipient of the Judges’ Choice Award of AED 15,000 as well as the chance to do an internship with a Getty Images photographer.

There is another competition open to Emirati ladies on social media, where photographs taken by them can be uploaded across all platforms using the hashtag #FBMASPE15 and tagging @ADFBMA. The winner will be chosen on the basis of the most number of likes and will receive the People’s Choice Award of AED 7,500.

“There are many women out there who may not actively be participating in sports, but do actually enjoy watching and being a part of it. This is a great opportunity for those women, to come out and associate themselves with a sport that they love, by taking photographs and sharing them on social media”, said Noura Al Kaabi, Head of the Media Committee of ICSW and CEO of twofour54.

The last day for submissions to both categories is 26 April 2015, and the winners will be announced during ICSW 2015, on 5 May.
