FUJIFILM introduces weather resistant lens in UAE

The FUJINON XF16mmF1.4 R WR is a fast aperture wide-angle lens suitable for landscapes, portraits, street and macro photography

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 16, 2015: FUJIFILM, a pioneer in digital imaging solutions, today announced the highly anticipated FUJINON XF16mmF1.4 R WR lens. The fifth model in FUJINON‘s line-up of fast aperture lenses, this weather and dust resistant lens delivers a dramatic wide field of view and stunning optical performance.

With fixed focal length of 16mm (24mm in 35mm format equivalent), and a maximum aperture of F1.4, the compact lens provides high quality images in low-light conditions and bokeh-rich macro photography with the minimum working distance of 15cm.

“The lens was designed keeping in mind street photography, it needs to have a fast autofocus. The XF16mm includes a high-torque DC coreless motor that greatly reduces the autofocus time,” commented Yuta Kawamura, marketing manager, electronic imaging division, FUJIFILM Middle East & Africa. “Completing the quintet of FUJIFILM’s fast aperture prime lenses, the XF16mm is compact, light weight, and offers a wide-angle view compared to the other lenses in our fast aperture series,” he added.

The use of FUJIFILM’s proprietary HT-EBC coating and the newly-developed Nano-GI* (Gradient Index) coating technology effectively inhibits ghosting and flare, producing clear and sharp images even at widest aperture of F1.4.

At approx. 375g the lens is around 40% of the weight of its DSLR equivalent making it suitable for photographers who want a versatile lens that delivers the highest optical performance in a very compact size.

The FUJINON XF16mm F1.4 R WR is scheduled to be available to the X-Series interchangeable lens line-up in mid-May 2015 with an estimated price of USD 999/AED 3,699.
