Dubai, March 17th 2015: Art Week, Art Dubai’s initiative that brings together Dubai’s thriving creative industries for a week-long festival of art and culture is pleased to welcome one of London’s most popular art exhibitions, RCA Secret Exhibition.
Introduced by Paul Smith, the Royal College of Art’s anonymous postcard exhibition will debut in Dubai for its inaugural show from March 18-21st at Art Dubai in Madinat Jumeirah. Sir Paul Smith’s constant curiosity and passion for creativity spark his interest for art, and having contributed regularly to the London exhibition with his own pocket-size pieces, the designer is proud to introduce the project traveling to Dubai.
“The RCA Secret’s project has been in existence in London for several years and has grown massively in popularity because there’s a real sense of mystery and excitement. You never know whether you are going to get a postcard by an unknown artist–but one that you love–or one that you love by a famous artist. I’m delighted to be involved in the mystery travelling to Dubai for the first time,” Sir Paul Smith explains.
Over 1,000 artworks will be made available for public sale set at 500 dirhams each on March 21st from 12-6pm on a first-come-first-served basis. Proceeds from the sale of postcards by international and regional artists in Dubai will support talented students at the RCA at formative stages in their careers as well as supporting the RCA in running courses in Dubai, which will in turn nurture emerging local art and design talent.
To celebrate the occasion, Paul Smith Ltd will be hosting an evening of fashion at their newly relocated store at Mall of the Emirates on March 15th from 5-7pm.
