Dubai Health Authority establishes health forums for DHA hospitals

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 16, 2015: Dubai Health Authority has established unified health forums for its hospitals, said a top health official.
Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector, said: “ In line with the directions of HE Eng. Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, the Authority has established health forums that comprise of directors of different specialties across all DHA hospitals. The members will meet on a monthly basis and discuss relevant issues related to their field and the brainstorming sessions are aimed to develop further policies and processes that will enhance patient care across DHA hospitals.”
The DHA has four hospitals and several specialty centres. The hospitals include Rashid, Dubai, Latifa and Hatta.
Directors from seven categories have been selected for the health forums, these include quality and management, administration and finance, nursing affairs, surgical, paediatrics and internal medicine, intensive care unit and emergency.
Bin Kalban, said: “At a later stage, we will add more specialties for this forum. Members of each specialty will meet on a monthly basis to discuss a range of issues. The aim of this forum is that it will promote co-ordination between the DHA hospitals, it will enhance the referral system, promote effective decision-making and help in developing unified policies and processes.”
These forums can also have sub-forums within the same specialty to discuss key issues related to the sub-specialty.
Bin Kalban added the members of the forum will help develop innovative strategies to further enhance management and delivery of care, they will map out training requirements for staff members in their field in cooperation with the medical education department and they will also promote medical research.
