Tadweer Hosts Environment Awareness Initiatives at Schools in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 1st February, 2015 - Tadweer (Center of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi) has successfully concluded a series of innovative educational initiatives for students in Abu Dhabi as part of its school environment awareness campaign that ran throughout January 2015.

During the campaign, Tadweer disseminated its awareness messages during the morning school assemblies, engaging teachers in educating pupils about the importance of maintaining a clean environment, reducing waste, and promoting waste reuse and recycling.

Additionally, Tadweer partnered with Popular Popcorn to print the center’s environmental awareness messages on nearly 50,000 boxes that were sold at more than 100 schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region. The awareness messages encouraged students to throw empty popcorn boxes in designated waste bins.

The month-long campaign was specifically designed to promote waste segregation at source, while reducing the amount of food waste that goes into landfills instead of recycling - one of the key concerns outlined by Tadweer as part of its ongoing efforts to support Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.

In cooperation with its strategic partners, Tadweer pursues an active strategy that integrates sustainable waste management practices such as waste reduction at source and waste reuse and recycling into its daily operations. In a bid to educate the general public about the importance of waste reduction and recycling, Tadweer conducts a series of public outreach programs to complement its year-round initiatives and campaigns.
