Doha, Qatar: The Qatar 2015 Organising Committee has confirmed that international superstar Gwen Stefani will perform on 24 January 2015, as part of the Men’s Handball World Championships.
Stefani joins popular Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir, leading Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi and platinum artist Pharrell Williams as part of the line-up of superstar entertainment for Qatar 2015.
The performance will take place on Saturday, 24 January 2015, at Lusail Multipurpose Hall, following the last scheduled match of the evening (Denmark – Poland, which begins at 9pm). The concert is exclusively for those who hold tickets to the Men’s Handball World Championships for 24 January.
The award-winning artist, who rose to fame in the mid-90s as the lead singer of No Doubt, launched a successful solo career in 2004 with her first solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. She followed it with another solo album – The Sweet Escape in 2006 – before returning to recording with No Doubt. Stefani’s third solo album is due for release in 2015.
Dubbed by Rolling Stone magazine as "the only true female rock star left on radio or MTV" in 2005, Stefani has made an indelible mark on rock music, winning one Grammy Award, four MTV Video Music Awards, one American Music Award, one Brit Award and two Billboard Music Awards. She is credited with hits such as Don’t Speak, Spiderwebs, Just a Girl, Hollaback Girl, What You Waiting For, Rich Girl and Cool.
