Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Receives International Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality

2014 Press Ganey NDNQI® Award Honours Excellence in Nursing-Sensitive Quality Measures

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) has been named a winner of the 2014 NDNQI Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality by Press Ganey Associates, Inc., a leading healthcare performance improvement company which partners with more than 11,000 health care facilities to reduce suffering and improve the patient experience.

The award recognises the top-performing international hospital that has achieved excellence in overall performance in nursing quality indicators.

“SKMC’s Nursing team takes humble pride in this achievement, knowing that our best-practice and commitment to quality and our ‘patients first’ philosophy is acknowledged by an international organisation like Press Ganey,”said Mrs. Safa Al Mustafa, Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, SKMC.

The NDNQI Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality honours hospitals that have made impressive and measurable improvements in nursing performance and patient outcomes. Granted annually, the award is given to the top performing facility in each of seven categories: academic medical center, teaching hospital, community hospital, pediatric hospital, rehabilitation hospital, psychiatric hospital and international.

To win the award, hospitals were to submit data on a minimum number of measures in 2013 and 2014, and the highest-ranking hospital was identified after undergoing qualitative screening.

SKMC, managed by Cleveland Clinic, is part of the SEHA HealthSystem and owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA), which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
