Expansion to reaffirm TWG Tea’s market leadership – company poised for further growth in 2015
UAE, December 3, 2014 – TWG Tea, the world’s finest luxury tea brand, is poised for further success following the official opening of its first standalone TWG Tea Salon & Boutique in Abu Dhabi and third in the UAE – the TWG Tea Salon & Boutique Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi.
Following on from the opening of its first two salons & boutiques at The Dubai Mall and Dubai Festival City Mall, the new opening highlights the increasing popularity of the luxury tea brand in the UAE, further strengthening the brand’s global presence. It is TWG Tea’s 41st store worldwide, rounding off an impressive few months that witnessed a number of new outlets, mainly in the Far East. TWG Tea plans to open six more salons & boutiques globally by the end of 2014 and ten more outlets in new locations in 2015, including Qatar.
On the official opening of the new TWG Tea Salon & Boutique in Yas Mall, Taha Bouqdib, President, CEO and Co-Founder of TWG Tea, said: “This new opening in Yas Mall is another sign of our commitment to ensure the long-term success of the brand in the Middle East. The iconic Yas Island is a strategic location to bring the TWG Tea experience to customers in the capital. We see a lot of potential in this market and aim to be a point of reference for tea lovers thirsty for the finest selection of luxury teas in the world.”
Tea is deeply rooted in Arab culture with a tradition that goes back some 1,200 years. This noble beverage plays a key role in the Middle East especially for afternoon tea ceremonies and social gatherings, creating a demand for tea varieties. According to recent reports by Euromonitor International, the UAE’s tea market is currently worth just under US$60 million. With an expanding luxury market and increasing thirst for gourmet and luxury teas, the UAE tea market is expected to be worth $70 million by 2018 . Customers are more conscious of what they are consuming, and therefore happy to pay for a more quality product.
