Abu Dhabi, UAE – November 22nd, 2014: Globally celebrated DJ and producer Armin Van Buuren thrilled the crowds with a never-before-seen show at the du Arena, Yas Island night as Yasalam, the largest city-wide entertainment programme run by any race host city, moved into its second night of celebrations. Supported by UAE-based electronic group Hollaphonic, the Dutch master got the crowd of moving to some of the biggest hits in dance including the anthemic “This is What it Feels Like”.
With both acts performing bespoke sets, crafted especially for the After-Race Concert crowds, the audience was treated to an energetic night of excitement as electronic beats were coupled with a live band and brought to life through dancers on stage and a custom-made light show.
Meanwhile on the second night of the Volkswagen presents Beats on the Beach, Live on the Corniche, a host of international and Arabic stars took the event to a new high with crowds in excess of 45,000.
R&B superstar Miguel led the festival celebrations as he took the stage along with chart-topper Jason Derulo, Bollywood hip-hop princess Hard Kaur and Emirati star Ruwaida Al Mahrooqi for what was yet another night of thrilling shows in the heart of the city.
Over on Yas Island, Yasalam Live at Yas Mall continued with appearances from Carole Samaha and Miguel. More After-Race Concerts and Volkswagen's Beats on the Beach artists will be dropping by every day from 3pm – 5pm until the final race day, as Yas Mall will be on the pulse of the festival action with unforgettable interviews.
The Live on the Corniche activities also saw the finale of the Closeup competition to find Dubai's best urban dancers. After weeks of competition the top 20 dancers were short listed and groups of up to five members formed. Their special performance was judged at Volkswagen presents Beats on the Beach last night with five finalists receiving a cash prize and the chance to attend a special dance workshop weekend in Beirut.
Tonight, Saturday 22nd November, the music industry's hottest property, Pharrell Williams, will light up the du Arena with his world famous stage persona and raw talent. The After-Race Concert crowd are sure to be singing along to some of his most recent hits including the seminal Happy, Marilyn Monroe and Come Get it Bae.
Bringing a smash finale to Volkswagen presents Beats on the Beach, pop starlets Rita Ora and Tinashe will take the stage with superstar Ragheb Alama and songstress Sabine for the final night of free music spectacular on the Corniche.
