Abdullah Ahmad Al Mousa Donates AED3 Million to Family Village

•    Fund to be allocated for construction and fit out of a villa in phase one
•    Phase two of development taking shape

Dubai-UAE: 17 November, 2014 – Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) has received a donation of AED3 million towards the construction and fit-out of a villa in phase one of the Family Village project.

Engineer Abdullah Ahmad Al Mousa, an Emirati businessman, handed over the cheque to His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General of AMAF. Ahmad Abu Shehab, Director of Waqf Development at AMAF, was also present on the occasion.

Commenting on the Family Village project, Abdullah Ahmad Al Mousa said: “I applaud AMAF's efforts to care for the orphans. I am also pleased to be part of this unique charity project that ensures social, psychological, and living stability. Donating to such projects reflects the social responsibility approach that businessmen and corporations must adopt to become valuable contributors to the society.”

His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, said: “We thank Engineer Abdullah Ahmad Al Mousa for his interest in the Family Village and his generosity. With this donation, we will cover the costs of constructing and equipping a villa as part of the project's first phase that focuses on residential buildings in the village.”

Al Rais added: “The Family Village project does not only provide a caring place for orphans, it also ensures that they become productive members of the society. The second phase of the project has started, and we invite all businessmen and companies to support its completion. The second phase is as important as the first.”

The Family Village is an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The village is located in Warqa'a 3 area, and will include 16 villas, residential villas and ancillary services such as the administration building, clinics and medical facilities for emergencies, nursery, and kindergarten, playground and garden (integrated recreational area).

Through this project, AMAF will provide a real home for orphans in a balanced atmosphere with full-time mothers giving them the much-needed love and care. Each house offers a bonded family unit comprising of ‘siblings' and a ‘mother' as well as all necessary amenities. Additionally, ‘aunts' or helpers will be a part of the children's daily lives as will a ‘grandmother' to oversee the day-to-day running of the village.

The Awqaf and Minors Affairs foundation is the first approved beneficiary of endowments and is mandated to oversee the care of minors and orphans in the emirate of Dubai. The Foundation operates according to international guidelines and conditions of governance and transparency and is characterized by its high credibility among the community, endowers, the government and private institutions.
