The Secretariat General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf will organize a workshop for young people titled: “Health, Sport and Entertainment Industry”, at the Conrad Hilton Hotel in Dubai on Sunday August 10 and Monday August 11.
The workshop will take place in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and Chairman of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare; HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council; Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials from the UAE; a number of undersecretaries of the concerned ministries from all the GCC countries; and more than 200 young men and women from the member states.
The workshop is part of a series of workshops held by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States in the member states, pursuant to the decision made by the GCC Supreme Council during its 34th summit, which was held in Kuwait in December 2013. The decision affirms the necessity of nurturing young people, developing their capacity and honing their skills in different areas, by such efforts as the provision of a platform that brings together young people, experts and the concerned organizations to propose recommendations and strategic initiatives which support GCC youths and activate their role in building society.
The workshop aims to present the current health situation of young population in the GCC countries and discuss all possible means to develop this situation. It discusses important topics such as the role of sport and entertainment channels in this regard, and how to encourage studies and research in the fields of youth and sport. Furthermore, it will discuss ways to cooperate with related regional and international organizations and groups, and work to develop common frameworks in the fields of youth and sport, the standardization of names, and structures and functions in the youth and sport departments, agencies and organizations in the council states.
The workshop includes three main topics that highlight health, sport and entertainment industry issues, as well as the vision and aspirations of GCC young people in these fields. The topics also present outstanding experiences of youths in this area and how to benefit from the successful youth model in all the member states.
At the end of the workshop, experts and a group of participating young people will propose practical recommendations by which to develop mechanisms and programs of work to implement the recommendations and results of workshop, and submit them to the Council of Ministries before submission to the supreme council in the next summit.
