Abu Dhabi - UAE: 14 May, 2014 - Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) today announced that it will use its participation at this year’s Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events (IMEX Frankfurt 2014) as a spring board to expand its portfolio and promote Abu Dhabi as one of the most happening cities worldwide for the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) sector.
IMEX Frankfurt 2014 which runs from 20 to 22 May in Frankfurt, Germany, is the largest European trade show for the international congress, conference and events sector.
ADNEC’s participation is in line with its objective of strengthening international cooperation and attracting conference delegates, meeting planners, buyers, and event organisers to bring their prestigious events to Abu Dhabi. Towards this priority, ADNEC will highlight its unique capabilities and key advantages as a destination of choice for hosting international events such as its state-of-the-art MICE infrastructure, world class facilities and connectivity with key international markets, among others.
ADNEC will participate in IMEX as part of an Abu Dhabi delegation led by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA), which will include a cross section of the local event industry supply chain including key hotel brands and tour operators among others.
Robin Miller, Acting CCO at ADNEC, said: “IMEX Frankfurt 2014 will be an excellent opportunity to showcase our unique capabilities in hosting international events in line with our mandate to actively promote Abu Dhabi as a premier destination in the MICE sector. We will seek to strengthen our existing partnerships and generate productive leads for future collaborations. IMEX 2014 will also allow us to gain better insights into the expectations and requirements of conference and event organisers towards developing our business and staying relevant in today’s dynamic exhibitions industry.”
Miller added: “The conference and exhibition industry has great economic importance within the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and ADNEC, through its world class venues such as Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi and ExCeL London in London, is seeking to play an integral role in enhancing the contribution of the MICE sector to the overall GDP of the country.”
IMEX Frankfurt 2014 is expected to draw nearly 3,500 exhibitors from 150 countries and 9,000 decision makers from all over the world. The award-winning trade show is committed to encouraging innovation in the MICE sector.
The event will feature educational fairs, seminars, interactive workshops, informal group discussions, as well as a politicians forum and a future leaders forum.
ADNEC plays a pivotal role in supporting the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, which was launched under the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) to position the emirate as a major player in the MICE and business tourism sectors. This was achieved by attracting high profile event organisers and hosting key events.
ADNEC offers 133,000 sq m of inter-connected floor space to match the expectations of a wide variety of events and exhibitions. Equipped with modern facilities and built to international standards, the venue attracted 1.53 million people across 328 events in 2013.
ADNEC recently won the rights to host five major international conferences including the 4th World Heart Failure Congress 2014, IATA 134th Slot Conference 2014, SPWLA (Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts) Congress 2014, Ecocity World Summit 2015, and World Skills 2017.
