New Arabian adventure opens doors to visitors at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

Dubai, UAE; April 8, 2014: Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo in The Dubai Mall is opening doors to an exciting new adventure that takes visitors through an educational journey to discover the amazing diversity of Arabian wildlife. 

The newly added permanent exhibit, ‘UAE’s Night Creatures,’ brings an assortment of animal species that thrive in the desert environment. From Arabian Toads to Fruit Bats, Giant Camel Spiders, Scorpions and Hedgehogs, the new arrivals also present a vivid sketch of the Arabian desert environment and how these species thrive on wadis, rocky mountains and sand dunes. 

The natural habitats of the diverse species are immaculately recreated within the dedicated zone, marking the commitment of Emaar Retail LLC, which manages Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, to bring exciting new choices for visitors. 

The visitor journey is designed to thrill and awe, as they walk through realistic rockworks, set to ambient lighting. The first part of the journey provides visitors the world of Veiled Chameleons, Frog Eye Geckos, Ornate Spiny Tail Lizards and Cheesmans Gerbils, among others. A second inner cave with LED lighting features Scorpions and Giant Camel Spiders. 

Continuing the adventure, visitors will be taken through a simulated desert environment with sand dunes, a crackling camp fire, a typical Bedouin tent and even a skyline changing from day light, to sunset, and then to night time. 

The mezzanine floor of Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo has been revamped to welcome the new exhibit, providing a strong perspective and understanding of the region’s heritage and natural life.

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, managed by Emaar Retail LLC, features a 270-degree walkthrough tunnel. Underwater Zoo, located on Level 2 above the main aquarium tank, presents the bio-diversity in different ecological zones including Rainforest, Rocky Shore and Living Ocean. Apart from Humboldt Penguins and Caiman Crocodiles, the animals featured here include Piranhas, Giant Spider Crabs, Small Claw Otters, Sea Jellies and Clown fish.
