Sip Prohibition era cocktails at Bā Restaurant & Lounge every Thursday night
27 March 2014, Dubai: Tucked inside Fairmont The Palm, the dimly lit lounge at Bā Restaurant is launching a Thursday night ‘speakeasy’ starting from April 3rd, returning you to the glamour of the prohibition era with velvety interiors, late night hours, live jazz, bartenders who know their way around a cocktail shaker and a password required to gain entrance. Tap into your inner jazz age tomcat as Bā Restaurant & Lounge puts a fresh spin on classic drinks including the Southside – the drink of Al Capone , the Sidecar - said to be named for an army captain who liked to be driven to the bar in a motorcycle sidecar and the Gin Rickey – the coolest cocktail of the Gatsby age, whilst the Bā team dressed in twenties fashion encourage a rip-roaring vibe.
With prohibition comes jazz and Sabrina Montgomery, Fairmont’s very own singer-in-residence, who brings the sounds of The Cotton Club to Dubai. Taught by the legendary Gil Askey, who performed with jazz greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, and Duke Ellington, and later became one of the architects of the legendary ‘Motown sound’, Sabrina performs tunes that were hot in the 1920’s and continue to sizzle today.
Bā Restaurant & Lounge will offer a complimentary meal for two to the best dressed couple so dust off your pinstripe suit or flapper dress and raise a glass to an era– it sure is swell and we imagine that even Gatsby would approve.
