A DANCE SHOW THE WHOLE FAMILY WILL LOVE
March 23rd, 2014 – Dubai, UAE: Palladium presents the 14th annual Sharmila Dance Extravaganza featuring an entertaining array of Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Street Jazz, Afro Jazz, Raggaeton and Latin at Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Mall of The Emirates, April 25th and 26th, show times 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
It will be a head-spinning weekend for dance in Dubai where the local powerhouse of talent will make audience members want to jump out of their seats. Spectators will be in for a treat with new and unique choreographies set to a fun mix of the hottest hits, old school classics and eclectic tracks that will appeal to all tastes.
Renowned choreographer, Sharmila Kamte kicks off the show with a colourful Hip Hop number, Street Style inspired by the Hollywood film Step Up where dancers meet on the raw streets of New York to battle it out and settle once and for all who really owns the stage. One of the many tantalizing performances the audience can look forward to is Seven Sins, a contemporary piece where even the angelic saints of heaven are tempted by the indulgences of evil. To close the Extravaganza will be a fun, quirky and enticing dance called Gatsby in Motion, a story of love, glamour and murder that has got everybody shaking up the floor.
“Every year is a chance to impress new and returning audience members with breathtaking choreography and dances that will leave a lasting impression and a higher regard for the world of dance. I am proud to see the sweat and hard work that goes on behind the scenes in preparation for the show turn into magic on stage,” said Sharmila Kamte, Founder, Choreographer and Artistic Director of Sharmila Dance.
The Sharmila Dance Extravaganza is a professional showcase of the commitment, passion and talent of the Sharmila Dance school’s students and company of professional dancers. Dedicated to sharing the vitality and delight of dance as a form of art and sport, Sharmila Dance offers a range of classes and workshops throughout the year for students of all ages and levels.
The Sharmila Dance Extravaganza originally started off as a small street jazz dance show in the Jumeirah Beach Club in 2000 and has since grown and transformed into one of Dubai’s most sought after dance shows. To meet demands of its growing audience, the Extravaganza moved to Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Mall of The Emirates in 2007 where it reached new heights with consistently sold out shows and standing ovations over the years.
Earlier this year Sharmila Kamte produced and directed the third annual Sharmila Dance Gala showcasing the best in ballet, contemporary, jazz, salsa, tango and hip-hop with international and local dance stars presenting a phenomenal celebration of dance for the UAE audience. An exhibition of talent and beauty with stars from the film Step Up, London’s musical Phantom of the Opera and international guest performers from the prestigious Stuttgart Ballet Company, as well as the locally based BNF Dance Company alongside Sharmila’s professional team.
Tickets will be available for purchase at AED 185 for stalls (allocated seating) and AED 110 for balcony (free seating) from Virgin Megastore and online http://tickets.virginmegastore.me/ starting in April.
