Hatta hospital deploys sophisticated techniques for diagnosis and treatment of arthritis.

Department of orthopedics at the hospital receives more than 400 cases per month.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March, 2014: Dr. Abdulaziz Al Zarooni, medical director of the Hatta Hospital said that the department of orthopedic surgery at the hospital receives more than 400 patients per month from different age groups.
He said that since the opening of the unit in 2013, the department has performed more than 100 joint and arthroscopic surgeries. In addition the department has attended to 150 patients with fractures of varying kinds from minor to major fractures using the latest techniques in line with international standards.
Zarooni said the aim of the Orthopedic Surgery Department at Hatta Hospital is to relieve the pressure faced by hospitals in Dubai and provide patients in and around the surrounding areas with immediate access to specialized care.
He said the department has day care clinics that provide treatment and surgery of fractures and joint problems.
Zarooni said that provision of timely care and access to care is an important part of the DHA’s strategic plan to ensure hospitals and primary healthcare centres are within a short distance from all areas of Dubai.
Dr Ahmed Hassan, Consultant and Head of Orthopedics at the Hatta Hospital said the hospital performs knee replacement surgeries using the latest technology and that the hospital uses 3D CT scan, making it the first center in the Middle-East region to use this technology to ensure accuracy before planning the operation. Moreover, the patient suffers from less pain as well the procedure helps prolong the working condition of the knee.
He said the department has several operating rooms with the latest equipment for arthroscopic surgery and has doctors that are highly experienced in joint surgery and binocular knee for the treatment of meniscal and cruciate ligament so that patients go through lesser pain and can lead an active life to the maximum extent possible.
