FAST Strongman Competition, UAE's Strongest Athlete

FAST, a Dubai-based strength and conditioning performance center for amateur and professional athletes, is holding a Strongman competition in Ahdaaf Sports Club on the 18th and 19th of April, 2014. The competition invites all residents of the UAE; including amateur and professional athletes of all levels between the ages of 15 and 45 to compete for the chance to win the title of “UAE’s strongest athlete”.
“Our mission with the strongman event is not only to find the strongest athlete in the UAE, but also to promote the benefits of strength training on health and well-being among the region”, says coach Nicolas, organizer and head of Strongman Events at FAST.
Boasting with exercise challenges that promote the benefits of strength training, the competition will include pushing and pulling heavy loads (cars/trucks/prowlers), flipping tires, and performing farmers walk.
The competition will consist of four categories and are divided into: Under 90 KG Males, and over 90 KG Males, Under 60 KG Females and over 60 KG Females, with 50 athletes in each category. The FAST strength and conditioning coaches will be the judges of the competition.
UAE’s Strongest Athlete will be open to the public and free of charge for spectators, of which approximately 500 are expected over the course of the weekend. The event will include food stands, and sponsor stands and when not cheering the athletes on, spectators will be able to enjoy a live DJ, including Red Bull entertainment.
The winners of the competition will be awarded with prizes such as a one-year membership to the FAST Performance Center, medals and trophies to name a few. FAST is currently seeking sponsorship opportunities with the intention to provide cash prizes for the first place winners.
