The Arabian Center Mall's security team -- with help from firefighters of the Dubai Civil Defence -- evacuate the mall's visitors from the ‘danger zone'.
Dubai, Dec. 2013: Dubai Civil Defence, in co-operation and co-ordination with Dubai Police conducted a mock drill at the Arabian Center on Monday, Dec 16th 2013 as part of the participating authorities and the mall's management's efforts to raise awareness on fire and security procedures.
The drill, which was conducted in co-operation with the mall's security and safety officials, was kick-started with the Dubai Civil Defence operation's room receiving a tip-off that a ‘fire had broken out' at the Arabian Center mall.
Fire tenders and firefighting personnel from the closest Civil Defence station, along with a police patrol and ambulance teams were rushed to the mall to evacuate the mall. A system was devised wherein the mall's security and safety officials in the mall guided the visitors and the staff to the emergency exits and moved towards the assembly area in an orderly manner. Consequently, a team leader or department head indicated that all the visitors and staff at the mall were safe and accounted for an emergency if any of them was missing.
After identifying that cause of the fire, the mall's security team, along with the help of the firefighters; evacuated visitors from the ‘danger zone'. At the end of the drill, the participating teams held a meeting to evaluate the drill and further develop such procedures.
"Malls face a wide range of emergency situations and crises, and mock drills like the one held today, are part of Arabian Center's efforts to be always on high alert in anticipation of such situations and to reaffirm Arabian Center Mall's reputation as a safe, exciting and convenient shopping and leisure destination for the entire family,” said Mr. Tim Jones, COO, Arabian Center & Lamcy Plaza.
