Top US family therapist to hold free surgery on Friday in Dubai
Last Update: Friday, December 6, 2013 : 00:19 (+4GMT)
Leading US authority on child, play and family therapy to share successful tools and techniques; weeklong programme of focused sessions aimed at parents, children, educators, therapists, doctors and specially-abled children and adults.
Anne Maxwell, a leader in the field of child, play and family therapy and licensed Access Consciousness® facilitator from the US will be bringing her unique set of tools and techniques to Dubai this December with a five-day workshop series designed to drive empower and change through the effective use of Access Consciousness®, empowering people to know that they know.
The workshop sessions, organised by Dubai-based management consultancy focus direct management consultants, will be held at the Majestic Hotel Dubai from 6-10 December 2013. A total of six special sessions targeting parents, children, educators, therapists, medical doctors and practitioners and specially-abled children and adults will present practical methods to combine Anne's tried and tested techniques with natural awareness and knowing in order to make participants feel more at ease with change, and thus effect change in all areas of their lives.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring Anne to Dubai. Her 20-plus years' experience spent both lobbying on behalf of at-risk mothers and babies and working as a clinical therapist specialising in stress, trauma, adoption and attachment issues, as well as with patients diagnosed with ADD/ADHD/OCD, autism and depression, have given her unique insight into the importance of using our own knowledge and awareness to communicate more effectively,” said Jennifer Randive, CEO, focus direct and Rejuvenate 2012 and Beyond, CEO-U of Your Life and Living.
“Access Consciousness® shines a light on those areas in life where most people have swept the good, the bad the ugly under a carpet or shoved it in a corner for no one to see, including them. Access® shows you where you've been cutting off your awareness, hiding your capacities and abilities, living in judgment in order to survive, to fit in, to benefit and to not lose,” said Anne Maxwell, Access Consciousness™ Certified Facilitator.
“My sessions will provide practical and simple tools to change what hasn't been working, whether it's in the parenting, teaching, diagnoses and treatment realms. My focus is to help people who may be stuck or at a complete loss as to what to say or how to be with their kids or their patients, to be able to identify what they really require and know how to provide it,” she added.
Entitled ‘What if ‘play' is the missing element in your life? An Invitation to a New Possibility, Have you forgotten how to play?' the workshop sessions will reach out to parents, young adults, medical doctors, therapists and specially-abled children and adults and related industry practitioners.
The week's events will kick off with a special Meet Anne Maxwell – Intro To Access® session on 6th December from 6-8pm. The ‘All About Kids' workshop from 10am to 1pm on 7th December is geared towards parents, while 4 young adults (15-18 years old) will get to have their say from 3-6pm on the same day.
A full day joint session for healing practitioners (therapists and medical doctors) will be held on 8th December from 10am-6pm, and a teacher workshop is scheduled from 5-8pm on 9th December.
Wrapping up the week on the evening of 10th December, the ‘X-Men: Disabilities or Abilities?' session will focus on those working with autistic, ADHD, ADD or OCD diagnosed juvenile or adult clients, including special needs schools, teachers, therapists and parents.
