BIM Software Drives Middle East's Complex Construction Projects

Tekla's Building Information Modeling (BIM) Software Enables Cost-Effective and Error-Free Collaboration, on Display at The Big 5;

More Than USD 1.0 Trillion Worth of Megaprojects Planned for 2030 Across GCC Region, According to Recent Report from EC Harris

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Building Information Modeling (BIM) software is driving the region's complex construction projects, according to an industry expert, as the GCC region moves forward on USD 1 trillion worth of megaprojects.

Across the GCC, there are more than 117 major construction programs worth more than USD 1 trillion and planned for completion by 2030, spanning retail, real estate, leisure, health, education, and transportation, according to the recent report “Middle East Major Construction Programmes: Mitigating the Delivery Risk” by built asset consultancy EC Harris.

Architects, engineers, and manufacturers are using BIM software, such as Tekla's, to produce constructable models that minimize costly surprises and rework, and deliver more profitable projects by optimizing the entire workflow.

Many of the region's major players have used Tekla's BIM software to design iconic structures, which are nominated for Tekla Middle East BIM Awards 2013.

Sixco has used Tekla's BIM software for the construction fit out and furnishing of the 60,000-seat world-class stadium that will be the centerpiece of the King Abdullah Sports City, slated to be one of the world's most advanced sports complexes, in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Eversendai has used Tekla's BIM software for the engineering of the steel structural frame of Abu Dhabi's Masdar Headquarters, one of the most sustainable offices in the world; and the new passenger building at Oman's Salalah Airport, boosting its annual airport passenger capacity to 2 million.

Tekla returns for its 11th year to The Big 5 International Building and Construction Show, the Middle East's largest construction exhibition, held from 25-28 November at the Dubai World Trade Centre. At The Big 5, more than 2,500 manufacturers and distributors from 65 countries are displaying more than 30,000 innovative products.

At Tekla's stand No.3340 in MEC G87, Sheikh Saeed Hall, visitors can talk one-on-one with senior managers and watch demos of Tekla's BIM software in action, with an emphasis on 3D visualizations for precast concrete fabricators.
