Abu Dhabi, UAE, 18 November, 2013: The Birds of Prey exhibition was inaugurated last night by His Excellency Nasser Al Nowais, Chairman of Aswaq Management and Services and Chairman of Rotana Group, at ‘AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS' – Abu Dhabi's first standalone luxury shopping destination. The pieces, which are the works of artist Christine Allison, pay tribute to the UAE's falconry heritage with a series of rich oil paintings and dramatic charcoal drawings of falcons, hawks and other birds of prey.
The British artist trained at St. Martin's School of Art, London, The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, USA and Exeter University, Devon. Commenting on the exhibition, she said: “Birds of prey and falconry are synonymous with the UAE and its heritage. It was only natural for me to translate the beauty of these creatures in my art, and I am delighted to showcase my work at the prestigious AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS.”
Richard Foulds, Head of Property Management at Etihad Towers, added: “We are honored to be hosting Christine Allison's Birds of Prey artistry at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS, which is not only home to a unique collection of luxury shops, but is also fast becoming a destination for traditional and applied arts from around the world. “
‘Birds of Prey' marks the seventh exhibition to be held at the luxury shopping destination, reflecting its role as a center for the arts in Abu Dhabi, and further enhancing its contribution to a burgeoning art culture in the city.
The exhibition will be on display daily at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS until 30 November 2013 from 10am to 10pm from Saturday through Thursday, and from 3pm to 11pm on Fridays. Two of the beautiful falcons from His Highness Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan's private collection will be available for photo opportunities from 7pm until 9 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
