A ‘Flash' of genius and some ‘Bulldog' spirit on the cards at White Collar Fight Night XI

A wealth manager, a few company directors and even a CEO, will be planning some hostile takeovers with a difference (under Queensbury Rules), when they swop the boardroom for the boxing ring this coming Friday for a night of unadulterated primal pugilism at White Collar Fight Night XI.
The corporate combatants will put away their packed lunches to hopefully land some heavyweight punches, during a night of executive boxing action at the Transguard Group-organised event, on Friday, November 22, at the Andalous Ballroom, Habtoor Grand Hotel, Dubai.
Before flexing their muscles in the ring at the eleventh edition of White Collar Fight Night, the mixed bag of enthusiastic and committed amateurs – including Richard ‘Flash' Gordon, a Key Account Manager, Ciaran ‘British Bulldog' Greaves, a MEP Manager and Megan ‘The Machine' Murray, ordinarily a mild mannered dental nurse - endured an intensive eight-week training regime under the strict guidance of professional boxing coaches Dee and Viik Taumafai at the KO Gym in Dubai Marina.
Mark Povey, organiser of White Collar Fight Night XI on behalf of Transguard Group commented: “Before even climbing in the ring, these dedicated contenders have been pushed to the absolute limit through a combination of physical training and a strict calorie controlled protein rich diet. It's all about transforming white collar business professionals into hard-nosed, mentally focused fighters.”
In front of a sell-out black tie audience of more than 700 guests, 18 contestants – both men and women – will be put to the ultimate test, throwing-off boardroom etiquette to have a swing-in-the-ring against fellow executives.
“The event has become a fixture on Dubai's social calendar, providing local corporate ‘suits' with a chance to prove their worth in the ring - supporting a concept that draws parallels between the mental strength and discipline required to be successful, whether that's in the ring or in the boardroom,” Povey added.
All bouts will be conducted under the rules of White Collar boxing which places priority on competitor safety and welfare. Each bout will consist of three two-minute rounds under the supervision of a professional referee. In accordance with White Collar's sporting ethos, there are no losers – anyone who trains and then competes in White Collar Fight Night is considered a winner.
Importantly for the organisers, a third of the fighters' sponsorship fees are donated to Christel House – a charity providing education to underprivileged children in Bangalore, India.
This year's contest has received backing from Dubai's business community with a number of high profile sponsors pledging their support, including The Olive Group, Restrata and The Lush Group.
