Dubai Health Authority sets up clinics at the 13th edition of the Dubai Airshow.

Clinics provides on-the-spot emergency medical services for exhibitors and visitors of the airshow.

United Arab Emirates, Dubai, November 17, 2013: The Dubai Health Authority has set up two medical clinics at the 13th Edition of the Dubai Airshow to provide on-the-spot emergency medical care for organizers, spectators and exhibitors of the airshow.

The clinics are located at the venue of the ongoing Dubai Airshow that  began today near Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central.

Dr Abdulla Naqbi, Director of the DHA Airport Medical Centre said: “We set-up a VIP and public clinic on Friday, two days prior to the show and the clinics will be open until two days after the show. The clinic timings are from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Our aim is to provide immediate medical services to the organizers, exhibitors and spectators at the event.”

The Airshow which is taking place from November 17-21, is expected to have 60,000 trade visitors during the five-day event.

Dr Naqbi said: “DHA and Dubai Ambulance will cater to the emergency medical needs of the people at the venue of the airshow. We are well-equipped to provide First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to those who require it. In addition, we will also provide non-emergency medical care.”

The DHA has deployed doctors and  nurses for the airshow clinics.

Providing an overview of the cases received, two years ago, during the last Airshow exhibition, Dr Naqbi said: “ We received several cases of Gastrointestinal Disorders( GI), upper respiratory tract infections, headaches etc. We also received one critical asthma case and we successfully  stabilized  and treated the patient.”

Dr Naqbi advised that when the public attends such mass-gathering like concerts, air-shows etc. they should keep certain precautions in mind. “Always wear a sun-block and a hat to protect yourself from a headache, exhaustion and/or heat-stroke; carry a water bottle with you and stay hydrated. For those with specific health conditions, it is important to carry your medicines with you. Asthma patients should always have a nebulizer with them.”

He said these are basic medical precautions that people should be aware of.

The DHA clinics will continue to provide medical assistance at the airshow venue until the 23rd of November.
