“Frozen” and “Walking With Dinosaurs” headline DIFF's family line-up with two Red Carpet Gala's

Dubai, November 16, 2013: To celebrate DIFF's 10th edition which this year runs from December 6 – 14th, 2013 there will two Red Carpet Galas in addition to a line-up of unforgettable films that will fuel the imagination and entertain the whole family.

Get ready to fight the freeze in our red carpet Gala with the coolest family comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen – “Frozen” from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film is directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf's Up) and Jennifer Lee (screenwriter Wreck-It Ralph), and produced by Peter Del Vecho (Winnie the Pooh, The Princess and the Frog). In “Frozen,” Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven in an epic journey, encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn in a race to find Anna's sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and save their kingdom from eternal winter.

From India comes the enchanting animation adaptation of Satyajit Ray's treasured classic “Goopi Gyne Bagha Byne” reinterpreted by book illustrator and animator Shilpa Ranade. The animated Hindi version is set in a magical world rich in music, adventure, fine food, and friendship and recounts the timeless story of Goopi and Bagha, a pair of musicians gifted with magical powers by the King of Ghosts. The film will have English subtitles and also English simultaneous translation available.

The action bursts onto our screens in the ultimate immersive, 3D big screen adventure for families “Walking With Dinosaurs” produced by BBC Earth and directed by Barry Cook and Neil Nightingale. For the first time in movie history, audiences will truly see and feel what it was like when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. Meet dinosaurs more real than you've ever seen as you take off on a thrilling prehistoric adventure, where Patchi, an underdog dinosaur, triumphs against all odds to become a hero for the ages.

Director Mark Cousins follows his epic documentary The Story of Film with “A Story of Children and Film”, a world first movie about children in global cinema. It's a passionate, poetic portrait of the adventures of childhood – its surrealism, loneliness, fun, destructiveness and stroppiness – as seen through 53 great films from 25 countries. It includes classic movies like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Great Expectations and The Red Balloon, also dozens of masterpieces that are almost unknown. A landmark film and a celebration of both childhood and the movies that guarantees you'll make discoveries, no matter what your age. Rounding up the programme is the unique opportunity to watch a selection of short films from filmmakers that focus on Arab related subjects and of which 3 are in Arabic language with English subtitles and English simultaneous translation available for all films. The line-up includes “Samar”, a documentary by Jordanian director Mohammad Rahahleh that offers a fascinating insight into the life of a Bedouin girl who lives in the mountains in Jordan. Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania's charming short “Peau De Colle” (Wooden Hand) follows little Amira who on the day of returning to school manages to get herself into a sticky situation when she super glues her hand to a wooden chair! “Pour Ton Bien” (For Your Own Good) from established theatre, film and television actress Ibtissem Guerda follows truant school boy Brahim whose father uses alternative methods to get him back into the classroom.  The last in the compilation comes from Somali filmmaker Naima Mohamud with “Fatima”, a touching film about friendship, love and divorce from a child's point of view.
