Abu Dhabi-UAE: 12 November, 2013: ADNOC Distribution today hosted a special appreciation ceremony for 540 Emirati employees who are currently undergoing training programmes for acquiring industry-specific skills and expertise.
The initiative was hosted as part of the nation-wide ‘Absher' programme that was launched under the patronage of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to drive the country's ongoing nationalisation efforts.
ADNCO Distribution's commitment to the Absher programme is articulated through its strategy to nationalise the company's higher and middle management level, as well as technical and semi technical positions across all domains. ADNOC Distribution has also commenced efforts to nationalise the supervisory jobs in the service stations sector, which represents a key growth area and therefore requires the availability of trained national staff.
Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, Chief Executive Officer, ADNOC Distribution, said: “ADNOC Distribution's strategies are closely aligned to the vision of our wise leadership, which focuses on nationalisation as a key priority area. These efforts will go a long way towards accelerating the economic growth that the UAE has been consistently witnessing. We are keen to empower our national workforce and enable them to participate effectively in the dynamic job market that offers diverse and highly competitive opportunities.”
Al Dhaheri added: “ADNOC Distribution provides employees with round-the-year training to improve their productivity and professionalism. Towards achieving this purpose, we adopt best-in-class practices from around the world to empower our national workforce and implement the directives of our leadership.”
ADNOC Distribution also conducts periodic training programmes for specific cadres and technical skill sets. In addition to benefiting the participants, the sessions provide trainers with the tools and benchmarks to identify the level of academic and technical proficiency that the trainees need to achieve.
ADNOC Distribution ensures careful selection of its national staff and places them at different offices based on the proximity to their residences to guarantee job stability and enhance social coherence through strengthening family ties. ADNOC Distribution also provides additional perks, including the possibility of continued education and flexible work hours to ensure that the UAE national employee is secure and comfortable in his/her work environment.
To date, ADNOC Distribution has succeeded in training several local employee cadres across different professional levels, and has played a significant role in building national human capital especially in critical sectors that are the lifeline of the economy.
