The Middle East's growing significance in the international market place, thanks to its rapidly growing economy, flourishing trade networks and growing consumption levels, was underscored by senior officials from Messe Frankfurt, here on a promotional tour of the region.
Speaking at a press conference in Dubai showcasing Heimtextil, the world's biggest spectrum of textile products, trends and innovations, being held in Frankfurt from January 8 to 11, 2014, Olaf Schmidt, Vice-President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt stated: “We are here because Dubai, and the Middle East region in general, represent a very important area for us. This is a region which has emerged as an essential component in our business strategy thanks to the excellent opportunities it affords.”
Schmidt revealed a 5% growth in participation from the region at Heimtextil for the upcoming edition in Frankfurt in January. He also expects well over 1,000 visitors from the region to what is the leading international trade fair for the sector. The 2013 edition enjoyed a 5% increase in the number of visitors from the UAE and a 13% increase from Qatar and organisers expect this will grow further for the upcoming January 2014 edition. A number of visitors are also expected from Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain all of which have enjoyed steady representation at the show in previous years.
Heimtextil presents the entire portfolio for textile interior design and textile furnishings for commercial projects; from products for windows, upholstery, floors, walls and sun protection to textiles for the bathroom, bed and table. Additionally, the fair is distinguished by an informative complementary programme for both visitors and exhibitors.
Amongst the companies participating from the region are Al Guthmi from Saudi Arabia, ZOE LLC, LEOMAX Cashmere Collection and Excellent Resources from the UAE and Salim Kittaneh and Sons Co. from Jordan.
Mr. Jawad Ali Shah, CEO at Excellent Resources commented: “Heimtextil gives us the opportunity to showcase our wares to the world and expand our market presence. It is known as the best
platform in the world for our industry and I intend to utilize the exhibition to develop a broad range of key contacts for our range of
products.”
With an outstanding number of registrations already received, the International Trade Fair for Home and Contract Textiles is now entering the decisive preparatory phase. “The great response shows clearly that the textile industry continues to rely on Heimtextil as a vital source of new impulses at the beginning of the year,” Schmidt stated. Thus, the upward trend of recent years, which has seen a steady increase in exhibitor numbers, continues.
Furthermore, Schmidt also announced the introduction of the first Techtextil Pavilion and Techtextil Middle East Symposium which will take place parallel to Intersec in Dubai from January 19 to 21. The Pavilion & Symposium aim to build on the potential of technical textiles in the region with a particular focus on the safety and
protection market. Techtextil is the international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens and a sister event to the Heimtextil exhibition.
