First week of the Mubadala Community Cup kicks off

- Under 12s and under 16s compete to win opportunities to play with the stars of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship

Abu Dhabi – UAE, November 11th 2013: FLASH Entertainment, the region's premier live events company, in partnership with Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company, kicked off of its annual Mubadala Community Cup competition this weekend. The action-packed tennis sessions at the International Tennis Complex, Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi saw great competition from participants at the under 12 and under 16 levels, with tennis fans battling for the ultimate prize; to win a once in a lifetime opportunity to join coaching sessions with the stars of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

The eventual winner, runners-up and lucky raffle picks from each age group will meet their tennis heroes on court during the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, 26th – 28th December. Community Cup events continue in various locations across Abu Dhabi and Dubai on the 16th, 22nd and 23rd November 2013. 

12-year-old winner Patrick Wong said: "My favourite player is Novak Djokovic and I would love the opportunity to play against him in Abu Dhabi, because I like him as a player off the court as well as on. I've been playing tennis for five years now and I am feeling confident in the competition."

Meanwhile 12-year-old runner up Ismail Badr said that Scotsman Andy Murray would be his ultimate challenger and that after a first taster of the Mubadala Community Cup this year, is hopeful of a return date next year, “I'm here from Egypt and signed up to participate on the website. I've been playing tennis since I was eight years old and want to join the Community Cup again next year with a different age group.”

The annual Mubadala World Tennis Championship will take place from 26th to 28th December 2013 at the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex, Zayed Sports City. This year boasts the Championship's strongest ever line up with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, David Ferrer, Andy Murray, Stanislas Wawrinka and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga all vying for victory.
