Dubai, UAE (October 29th, 2013): Damas, the Middle East's leading jewellery and watch retailer, has concluded its summer promotion, aimed at raising awareness and funds for Dubai Cares' “End Poverty. Educate Now.” Ramadan campaign.
Building on an ongoing relationship with the UAE-based philanthropic organization; Damas raised a generous donation in support of providing quality primary education to children in developing countries through a fundraising promotion at its retail outlets throughout the holy month of Ramadan. Damas also sponsored Dubai Cares' in-mall activity at The Dubai Mall Star Atrium, aimed at highlighting education as one of the most effective tools to break the cycle of poverty.
Anan Fakhreddin, CEO of Damas said: “We are very happy with the success of the campaign, and it gives us great pleasure to know that we have been able to raise funds in support of such a deserving cause. This activity is a perfect reflection of the Damas values, which we strive to ingrain in our employees and instill in our corporate culture. We would like to thank all those who participated and supported this effort, and we hope to continue giving back to the UAE community.”
Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares said: “Today, Dubai Cares is a major player in global efforts to ensure all children go to school, stay in school and learn by receiving quality education. Without the contribution of the UAE community, we would not have achieved what we have thus far, reaching more than 8 million children in 31 developing countries. We are thankful to Damas, a great example of how the UAE business community can be supportive of such noble causes.”
Damas has long been known for its commitment to charitable efforts, and it prides itself on company values, which reflect its contribution to people and the community. The luxury retailer plans on continuing efforts to support Dubai Cares, building on a strong and long lasting relationship.
