Deerfields Townsquare Shopping Centre's new Carrefour hypermarket welcomes over 68,000 visitors in 2 days

September 30, 2013: Deerfields Townsquare Shopping Centre's new 6,700 m² Carrefour Hypermarket opened to an auspicious start on September 28, 2013, welcoming 44,074 guests to its inauguration to affirm its prominent place among Abu Dhabi's top retail destinations. The second day saw 24,000 more visitors troop to the store, bringing the total footfall to over 68,000 in just a span of two days.

The newly opened hypermarket in Abu Dhabi is managed by MAF Carrefour, a full ownership of the Carrefour franchise in the region by Majid Al Futtaim Group. There are now a total of 19 Carrefour hypermarkets and 24 regular outlets spread across the UAE. The latest store will offer Carrefour's popular vast selection of local and international fresh produce, bakery, fishery and meat products, and household and electronic goods. All of these will be available at competitive prices and backed by quality customer service. The hypermarket's successful launch precedes more major store openings planned for Deerfields Townsquare Shopping Centre (DTSSC) through Q1 2014.

Owned by Carrefour, the renowned French multinational retailer, the hypermarket is central to DTSSC's ongoing efforts to introduce a unique community mall experience in its surrounding areas. It was inaugurated by H.E. Saeed Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Chairman of Mubarak & Brothers Financial and Property Investment LLC, the owner of Deerfields Townsquare; Younis Al Mulla, Senior Vice President of Majid Al Futtaim, the operator of Carrefour stores in the Middle East; Mohammed Al Haj, Chief Executive Officer, Mubarak and Brothers Investment; and Banu Tas General Manager, Deerfields Townsquare Shopping Centre.

Deerfields Townsquare Shopping Centre will eventually be headlined by nearly 200 of the Middle East's most popular retailers. A flagship project of venture capital firm Mubarak Brothers Investments (MBI), a company specializing in real estate and construction, infrastructure, and industrial ventures, Deerfields Townsquare Shopping Centre will be the primary shopping destination of the more than 200,000 residents of the immediate catchment areas of Shahama, Bahia, Al Raha, Al Rahba and Khalifa City. Around 400,000 vehicles from other areas that pass by Deerfields Townsquare every week also represent potential visitors who can pull up at the mall's 3,000 parking slots.
