Month-long Back-to-School Campaign gets parents and students ready

Dubai, UAE; 17 August 2013 – Notebooks, pencils, bags, shoes, uniform - the list goes on for another school year that is about to begin.  While parents are on a shopping mission, topnotch performances and interactive activities will be hosted at Mall of the Emirates to mark the launch of Back-to-School campaign.  A month-long family entertainment as well as interactive activations will take place at the Central Galleria until September 15 to entertain families and prepare students for the coming school year. 

Getting into the school mode, Mall of the Emirates has created a classroom set-up, where students are encouraged to share some of their favorite experiences at school on video, which will be posted on social networking sites for the chance to win Back-to-School shopping sprees. A video crew will be present over two weekends between August 22 and 31 to help shoppers record their favorite memories, which will be shared on Facebook. The fan with most shares will win a gift card worth AED 10,000.  During weekdays, shoppers can take their photo inside the classroom, post it on Instagram or Twitter.  The fan with most likes on Instagram will win a gift card worth AED 3,000 while Twitter followers with most re-tweets will win AED 2,000.

“Making a school connection and getting involved in education is important to Mall of the Emirates,” said Anna Mansour, Associate Director at Majid Al Futtaim Properties.  “Our Back-to-School campaign is dedicated not only to parents, who would find the deals very handy, but also to students whom we are trying to engage with our hosted activities.  The positive performance that we have witnessed during the holidays is expected to continue for this is another key period for us.”

In partnership with Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, roaming entertainment will fill the mall with thrills and excitement.  Tempting treats from Candy Man and Friends will be hard to resist as they meet and greet with kids from August 22 to 24.  What's hard to miss - the entourage of the Royal Snails with colourful robes and matching crowns from August 29 to 31.  While dragging their shells on their backs around the mall would slow them down, they will not mind saying hello to the crowd.  From September 5 to 7, colourful characters from The Comic Book will dance their way in a 30-minute performance as they stage a magical story while keeping the audience captivated with fun story lines, exceptional dance moves and one of a kind props.
