KUUR Rehabilitation launches unique month long “Workplace Fitness” initiative

Campaign kicked off at UAE's 1st ever “Workout@Work Day” event

July 9, 2013; Dubai, UAE The globally observed Workout@Work Day (W@WD) made its inaugural appearance in the UAE when Dubai located physiotherapy center, KUUR Rehabilitation organised day long fitness at work event recently.  W@WD promotes physical and mental wellbeing in the work environment and is a chance to remind people that overworking and poor posture can lead to musculoskeletal disorders and stress.

With the successful event, KURR launched the unique month long “Workplace Fitness” program which will focus on providing support, guidance and complimentary talks at select offices aiming on raising awareness on how to Workout@work and stay fit. Topics such as back pain, fitness at work, simple lifestyle changes for diabetes management and prevention and health tips for office going mums-to-be etc will be covered through this initiative.

The Workout@Work day activities included posture assessments, overall fitness assessments, and random blood sugar, blood pressure and BMI tests as well as personal nutritional counseling sessions. Fitness demonstrations include correct sitting techniques, simple desk stretches and Bhangra Fitness Workout by Dubai Bhangra Jammers.  

“With such a large and vibrant working population in the emirates, it is imperative to generate awareness about health at work. W@WD is an opportunity for employers to encourage staff to lead a healthier life style, take proper breaks and get exercise. This can help reduce sickness absence, and improve productivity and morale in the workplace, we would be happy to conduct these educative workshops and seminars if any company may requests for it,” says Marilyne Lopez, chartered physiotherapist at KURR Rehabilitation Centre.
