Dubai. Roads and Transport Authority. 15th July 2024:
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a partnership agreement with Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group to install three air-to-water dispensers at delivery riders’ rest areas, developed under Phase I of this project. Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of Licensing Agency, signed the agreement for RTA, while Ali Al-Abdullah, Managing Director of Government Affairs & Corporate Real Estate at Majid Al Futtaim, signed for MAF.
The air-to-water dispensers provided by Majid Al Futtaim use innovative technology that harnesses atmospheric humidity to produce potable water. At a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and 65% humidity, the dispensers can generate around 100 litres of drinking water per day.
Abdullah Yousef Al Ali stated, "This partnership is a testament to RTA's commitment to collaborating with the private sector to ensure the safety of delivery bike drivers, contributing to a safe and convenient transport system for all residents and visitors in Dubai. It is also a manifestation of Majid Al Futtaim Group's social responsibility values. This sustainable solution not only provides safe drinking water to delivery bike drivers but also helps reduce the environmental footprint."
RTA’s initiative to construct 40 air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders aims to regulate and enhance the safety of the rapidly growing delivery sector and improve the well-being of these drivers. Several rest areas have already been completed, with the remaining ones scheduled for construction in three phases.
RTA expressed its gratitude for Majid Al Futtaim's contribution in providing safe drinking water, which is crucial for the health and well-being of delivery drivers working long hours outdoors.
