Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Organises Blitz Chess Tournament in Cooperation with UAE Chess Federation

In line with its vision and strategy to stimulate critical thinking within the community, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, in collaboration with the UAE Chess Federation, is organising a Blitz Chess Tournament on 19 July to celebrate International Chess Day, observed on 20 July. This event aims to blend the intellectual worlds of chess and reading, enhancing participants' mental and cultural skills.
Dr. Mohammed Salem AlMazrooei, Board Member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Foundation, stated: “Our goal with these events is to create an educational and entertaining environment that enriches minds and fosters critical and creative thinking. Chess and reading are powerful tools for developing mental acuity, and we are proud to host activities that combine education with entertainment, aligning with our commitment to promoting culture and knowledge within the community.”
His Excellency Taryam Matar Taryam, President of the UAE Chess Federation, said: “The Blitz Chess Tournament at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library comes within the framework of the Federation’s sustainable vision and strategy to promote activities that contribute to developing mental and creative skills and enhance participants’ abilities to think deeply and conduct strategic analysis.”
Taryam added: “This step reflects our commitment to supporting the community and providing interactive platforms that allow individuals to develop their mental abilities and benefit from chess as an educational and recreational tool.”
The tournament will feature over 50 avid chess players who also have a passion for reading. Participants will compete in a multi-round format, with the winners receiving a valuable collection of books, including the latest publications in literature, science, and the arts.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library invites the public to attend the tournament, enjoy a tour of the library, explore its key services and facilities, and discover its extensive collection of books and digital resources. This event offers a unique cultural experience that seamlessly combines entertainment and education.
