The JBT AeroTech-Sponsored Lewis Smith Emerges first in Round 1 of IAME Series UAE

Ras Al Kamiah 23, May 2022: The international carting star Lewis Smith secured the first place in the IAME Series UAE Championship, Round 1, which that took place at RAK Track. The championship was organised in line with strategy of Ras Al Kamiah Government, under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqer Al Gassmimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Kamiah, aimed at diversifying income by hosting a number of sports, cultural and social events.
The 16 year old aspirant driver, sponsored by JBT AeroTech Corporation, a worldwide champion in the aviation support industry, stole the limelight from 12 skilful contestants from across the world in the X30 Senior category, for competitors aged 15 Years +. Rafael Jesus and Matteo Quintarelli secured the second and third place respectively. Liwes drove a fantastic 3 rounds of racing finishing in 2nd place for qualifying, finished 1st in the pre final and ended 1st in the overall final. This victory represents a great milestone for Smith on his way to be a worldwide carting superstar.
Although it was extremely hard race to Lewis, the temperature was 36 degrees the pre-final was over 19 laps and the final was over 21 with many challenges, but he managed to overcome all these challenges and come out on top.
Commenting on the triumph, Lewis father said, “We are extremely overwhelmed by this achievement today, thanks to support of JBT AeroTech Corporation take forward into the second round in June.” Adding, “Lewis is extremely excited and he is really looking forward to the second round to become the IAME summer cup champion overall.” He also added, “His manager Rashid Almuammari did a great job and he is extremely proud of Lewis achievement.”
Smith has been internationally racing over the past three years within the GCC and Europe. He has already completed 2019/2020/2021 seasons of the BRMMC championships and has successfully finished on podium 1st 2019, 1ST 2020 and 2ND in 2021 and recently fished 2nd in the 2022 season.
