A New Royal Oak Offshore Diver Geared for Adventures

 May 05, 2021: Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet releases three new 42 mm Royal Oak Offshore Divers in stainless steel. Powered by a new movement, Calibre 4308, these models are fit for the wildest adventures in and out of the water. These three watches in khaki, blue or grey sport a new dial aesthetics as well as a new interchangeable strap system to style up your dive.

MECHANISM FIT FOR ACTION

The three new Royal Oak Offshore Diver models are powered by a new automatic movement with second and instant-jump date indication. Calibre 4308 is equipped with a patented setting mechanism that brings stability and precision when adjusting the watch’s function. Its diving scale featured on the dial’s inner rotating ring is activated with a unidirectional click mechanism linked to the 10 o’clock crown. The watch’s sapphire caseback reveals Calibre 4308’s refined finishing techniques, such as “Côtes de Genève,” “traits tirés” and circular graining, as well as a new dedicated oscillating weight in blackened 22-carat pink gold.

The Royal Oak Offshore Diver is fit for underwater exploration up to a depth of 300 metres as well as for any above-ground outdoors adventures. Thanks to its 60 hours of power reserve, the watch can easily adapt to a few days rest between expeditions. 

SPORTY INTERCHANGEABLE STRAPS

With the release of the new Royal Oak Offshore Diver, the Manufacture launches an innovative interchangeable strap system for the latest additions to the Royal Oak Offshore collection. The ease and efficiency of the new system will allow clients to change the straps and buckles of their new timepieces themselves with a quick click and release. 

Rubber straps in hues of green, blue, grey and black are available for the new Diver models, as well as three calfskin leather straps in beige, brown and black for more adventures on dry land. 

OPTIMUM VISIBILITY DEEP DOWN

The new Royal Oak Offshore Diver in khaki, blue or grey presents new facetted hour-markers, cut in two distinct sizes for improved legibility. Long hour-markers indicate the quarter hours (to the exception of the 15-minute mark replaced by the date window), while shorter square hour-markers are used to mark out the 5-minute increments. The luminescent coating on the gold hour-markers and Royal Oak hands grant optimum visibility in the dark. The three models also feature a larger applied gold AP logo achieved in galvanic growth, replacing the traditional long-form signature.

TRAILBLAZING KHAKI 

The stainless steel case of the khaki model is complemented with two crowns, at 3 and 10 o’clock, crafted in black ceramic. Hand-finished with an alternation of satin-brushed and polished surfaces, the case offers a refined frame to the khaki “Méga-Tapisserie” dial adorned with 18-carat pink gold hour-markers and hands. The black rotating diving scale ring is complemented with a beige 15-minute zone as well as beige Arabic numerals. The gasket in khaki green hues visible under the octagonal bezel adds a sporty touch. The watch’s original khaki strap, fit for the wildest outdoors adventures, is accompanied by an additional black rubber strap. 

NAVY BLUE 

The Royal Oak Offshore Diver in navy blue reflects the watch’s subaquatic function. Its “Méga-Tapisserie” motif is enriched with 18-carat white gold hour-markers and hands, all adorned with luminescent coating. The black rotating diving scale ring is similarly enhanced by white Arabic numerals and a white 15-minute zone. This contrast is enhanced by the stainless steel case, complemented with two black ceramic crowns, all finished by hand with satin brushing and polished chamfers. The visible blue gasket and interchangeable blue rubber strap further the watch’s marine aesthetics. The watch also comes with an additional black rubber strap. 

PRISTINE GREY

The Royal Oak Offshore Diver in shades of grey brings a touch of timeless elegance to this sporty model. The two crowns in grey ceramic, completing the stainless steel case, match with the grey hues of the “Méga-Tapisserie” dial and colour-coordinated interchangeable strap. Luminescent white gold hour-markers and hands illuminate the dial, while the blue rotating diving scale, contrasted with white Arabic numerals and a white 15-minute zone, adds a hint of colour. This touch of blue is subtly enhanced by the blue gasket visible under the watch’s octagonal bezel. This model is also complemented with an additional blue rubber strap. 

A RETROSPECTIVE

The Royal Oak Offshore Diver, first entitled Royal Oak Offshore Scuba, made its appearance in 2005. Since its release, it saw a variety of vibrant dial colours and matching rubber straps as well as pioneering case materials and combinations inspired by diving equipment, making this sports model an all-time favourite of adventurers at heart.
