Dubai, 16 March 2021: Rizek, one of the fastest-growing Abu Dhabi-based start-ups, and the first ‘super app’ for on-demand home services in the country, has helped facilitate more than 100,000 COVID-19 tests to date and over the past few months alone. This announcement is a mark of the company’s milestone of becoming the first in the Middle East to add at-home PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test services to its offerings. The company has partnered with top-tier hospitals certified by Dubai Health Authority and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health to provide the PCR tests.
Abdallah Abu Sheikh, co-founder and chief operating officer of Rizek, said: “Rizek has continuously offered innovative solutions for residents across the UAE in alignment with national strategies and mandates to ensure a healthier and stronger society. Following the successful roll-out of our PCR drive that facilitated the administration of PCR tests to people in their homes, Rizek has become one of the most integral start-ups during the pandemic. We are proud of what we have accomplished since our inception and look forward to offering customers even more services and innovations of this nature.”
The UAE has been at the forefront of limiting the spread of COVID-19, and Rizek has, in turn, assisted a number of small labs as well as offered a helping hand to nurses and healthcare personnel, who have been on full alert from the onset of the pandemic. Their contribution has been extraordinary, and Rizek has proudly supported them during these difficult economic conditions by providing them a platform to offer their services.
Ahmed Mazroui, co-founder of Rizek, said: “We are proud to be aligning with national initiatives to limit and stop the spread of COVID-19. We have continuously evolved our services to surpass the needs of the overarching UAE community, and by establishing the infrastructure to provide at-home PCR tests, we are the first app in the region and the Middle East to be doing so. The UAE government has been a source of immense inspiration for us, and our innovation is made possible thanks in due to the leadership’s progressive vision and ambition for the UAE and the world.”
The PCR test results offered through Rizek partners are certified and approved for travel purposes, both internationally and regionally. The service is part of Rizek’s commitment to align with and facilitate the UAE government's plan to make coronavirus testing available to all citizens and residents across the country. Rizek has also been consistently pioneering solutions to help combat and limit the spread of the pandemic through offerings, such as free disinfection services for labour camps, and was the first platform to launch on-demand sanitisation services.
The success of this initiative has also helped small labs, and other healthcare facilities grow and prosper by connecting them with patients in a streamlined and efficient way.
