UAE Ministry of Tolerance & Coexistence and the Higher Committee launches Festival of Human Fraternity

United Arab Emirates -  January 28, 2021:  His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence announced the launch of the first edition of the Festival of Human Fraternity. 

 

Organized by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence and in collaboration with the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, the festival will be held annually on February 4, marking the United Nations’ recently declared ‘International Day of Human Fraternity’.  

 

Proclaimed recently, the U.N. made the declaration in honor of the Abu Dhabi Document on Human Fraternity signed on February 4, 2019, which was considered as a great global achievement at the time, for the efforts of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and an assertion of UAE's effective role on the international arena. 

 

His Excellency stated that the festival will run until February 8, and will witness the participation of prominent international and Arab speakers including the active involvement of federal entities in the country.

Under the theme “Human Fraternity in Action”, the festival celebrates the Abu Dhabi Document on Human Fraternity, which embodies the astute wisdom and leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who has exerted great efforts in creating and launching this historic document from the beloved land of the UAE in the presence of His Holiness Pope Francis of the Catholic Church and His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. 

 

Festival’s most important activities and programs

The festival includes dozens of initiatives and events to be carried out over a period of five days, which vary between governmental, international, youth, sports and intellectual participations and programs related to women, families, children, people of determination, and other groups in society, including:

• Global virtual forum for human fraternity with the participation of a group of international thinkers and experts and from the Arab world.

• Launching the celebrations of more than 41 government agencies of the International Day of Human Fraternity, with the cooperation between the Ministry and tolerance committees in all state institutions.

• Launching the Human Fraternity Week in the Football Pro League (Round 15 of the League will be held under the name of “Human Fraternity”)

• Human fraternity lesson in Moral Education - Schools Program, in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

• Reading session for children "Document on Human Fraternity”- Schools Program, which is a program open for all.

• Broadcasting TV program for celebrating the human fraternity “Road to February 4”

• Dialogue and knowing one another sessions

• Me and You – University Program

• Forum ; Fraternity in Youth Eyes

• Forum of Mechanisms of Promoting Human Fraternity Principles in Governmental Work

• Event of launch "Volunteering - a real embodiment of Human Fraternity”
