Initiative to support the community & ensure their integration into mainstream society
16 November 2020 - In a move to support the community, Dubai Club for People of Determination, in cooperation with Mai Dubai, delivered a session titled the ‘Art of Dealing with People of Determination’ to the bottled drinking water company employees. The lecture was delivered by Majid Al Usaimi, the Club’s Executive Director, in the presence of Alexander van 't Riet, CEO of Mai Dubai, and several other company executives.
Alexander van 't Riet reaffirmed that Mai Dubai, being one of the leading official sponsors of the Club and its activities, is committed to supporting their empowerment and inclusion into the society, thereby ensuring a better quality of life for them and their families. He added that the initiative aligns with the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create an inclusive society that guarantees this segment’s empowerment and right to a dignified life.
“We are committed to extending the support needed to the POD community in this regard, and will continue to contribute to the ‘My Community... A City for Everyone’ initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council. These efforts help promote inclusiveness and equal opportunities for all, build a more united community, and foster a more caring society. It also helps address the challenges that hinder them from completely integrating into the mainstream society. It is a privilege to join hands with Dubai Club for People of Determination and support its efforts to realize the UAE leadership’s vision to empower these individuals. At Mai Dubai, we are always looking forward to supporting and participating in initiatives designed for all segments of the community, besides sports and fitness activities, in line with our corporate culture and values,” he added.
Majid Al Usaimi highlighted Mai Dubai’s role in supporting the Club’s activities and programs, particularly the Fazza Championships, the globally renowned tournaments in the category of Paralympic sports. He added that the partnership fulfils Mai Dubai’s social responsibility, and that the Club will provide top-notch services and courses to Mai Dubai staff as part of it, in addition to cooperation in joint sports events.
Al Usaimi concluded: “The high level of care, attention and support enjoyed by the people of determination in the UAE in all aspects has considerably improved their quality of life. In this regard, I would like to underline the significance of the partnerships that benefit this segment in promoting social responsibility values.”
The session discussed the art of dealing with their needs, in addition to the importance of raising awareness on how to better care for them as an important part of the Emirati community. Furthermore, the participants reiterated their commitment to playing their respective roles in promoting an environment that is friendly and supportive towards the people of determination.
