• The Ramadan 2020 collection features traditional patterns, hues, and scents for a peaceful month of reflection
Dubai, UAE, 04 May 2020: Crate and Barrel has collaborated with regional designers Silsal, Ozlem Tuna, and Lava Moments to launch a special Ramadan collection that showcases and celebrates the beauty of the Arab region. To present authentically Islamicate designs, the new collection comprises a mix of private labels exclusive to the home furnishing store. Launched in April, the new collection draws inspiration from traditional Arab weaving patterns and the ever-changing forms and characteristics of the region’s deserts.
As families look to curate the ideal sanctuary for the holy month, Crate and Barrel offers a variety of accessories and décor options that are sure to create a warm and welcoming ambience. Silsal’s Sadu collection is inspired by the geometric shapes prevalent in the traditional Al-Sadu patterns as woven by Bedouin tribes, and will be coming soon.
Meanwhile Silsal’s Fairuz collection draws on soft blue, green, and gold patterns, reminiscent of the orchestral tones of the renowned vocalist it is named after. The Silsal Fairuz Teacups elegantly embody this rich design accent. Featuring a classic silhouette, the glass sits atop a porcelain saucer decorated with a cluster of delicate watercolour hues of emerald green and gold. A warm cup of tea in this glass is perfectly complemented by the soothing light of the Silsal Legacy Candle, which exudes the fragrant notes of Oriental Oud, while the design pays tribute to the mastery of traditional calligraphy.
Adding to the meditative atmosphere are the Khamsin and Sage collections found in the private label range created by Ozlem Tuna, available from the first week of May. While the Sage collection features darker, earthier tones meant to evoke a lull of serenity, the Khamsin collection is inspired by the presence of the desert. Items such as coffee cups and saucers within the collection are tinged with grainy stripes of gold, reminiscent of the desert sands.
As visitors bask in the contemplative mood of the occasion, the candle brand Lava Moments offers a private label called Tasamoh, available exclusively to Crate and Barrel. Providing a soft glow atop tables and shelf corners, these candles come in rich white musk, cedar, and green shades with a range of fragrances including jasmine, spicy vanilla, and crisp apple.
Complementing products from the designer collaborations, items under Crate and Barrel’s own Kashida collection are characterised by their delicate gold and rich wooden shades. The Khayal Medium Candlestick adds a touch of artistic flair to any room it’s placed in. Inspired by the scarcity of trees in our urban sphere, the candlestick resembles a single tree branch, embodied through experimental Arab calligraphy. Meanwhile, the Iftar Serving Container, alongside contemporary and highly functional jugs from the Stelton and Normann collection, are ideal for serving iftar guests and welcoming them into the celebrations.
The Ramadan 2020 collection emphasises traditional designs, offering soothing shades and patterns for a placid holy month. Further embracing the spirit of giving this month, Crate and Barrel will also donate five per cent of all online revenue during the month to the Fund for the UAE: Homeland of Humanity. The fund calls for unified national efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Shoppers can support the fund while exploring the latest collections online at crateandbarrel.me, as well as at Crate and Barrel’s Dubai stores at Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, and The Dubai Mall.
