February 18, 2020: It was a clean sweep for Healthy Farm when the Gulfood Innovation Awards 2020 were announced yesterday.
The multi-award winning food brand under the Albatha Group held its own against an international field of food innovators to bag the ‘Most Innovative Halal Product’ award for its Healthy Farm’s Plant Protein Pea, Quinoa & Kale Burger (BEEF FREE). Healthy Farm’s Chicken Quinoa & Kale with Salicornia also won in the ‘Most Innovative Meat or Poultry Product’ category.
“These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team who work tirelessly to provide innovation-led solutions that are designed to help consumers make smarter, informed and sustainable food choices. The fact that our one-of-a-kind plant protein products have now been awarded 2 years in row, not to mention that we have won 5 awards in 3 years, is indicative of our relentless pursuit of excellence and we thank the Gulfood team for continuing to give us a platform to showcase our insight and expertise,” said Jacek Plewa, CEO, Healthy Farm and Healthy Farm Food Innovation (HFFI), a new food business vertical dedicated to developing ground-breaking food concepts and products.
“With our Plant Based Healthy Farm range, we strive to keep our “never from meat” promise and use plants and superfoods to reinvent meat, without sacrifice in taste, texture and flavor. At the same time, we use expertise and innovation to offer consumers a number of options, always promising a healthier and happier lifestyle and our second win with the innovative Salicornia solution to salt reduction is a perfect example of this,” he added.
With an ambitious plan to convert more than 500,000 health-conscious consumers, Healthy Farm’s accent at Gulfood 2020 is on new, innovative products intrinsic to Healthy Farm’s plant-based range. Among the more popular items on display at the 5-day event are Plant Protein Pea Kale and Quinoa – beef free, Plant Protein Pea Kale and Quinoa – chicken Free for starters. These vegan-certified dishes will be marketed in regular and spicy versions and made available in burger patties, meatballs, kebabs, mince, and chunks. With more protein and more fibre, these exciting low-cholesterol meat alternatives sit well on the palate and enjoy the additional advantage of having no preservatives, no monosodium glutamate (MSG) and are without artificial colors, eggs, soya and gluten.
In addition to these options to relish and savor, also introduced at Gulfood 2020 was Healthy Farm’s Chicken Quinoa & Kale with Salicornia burger, a must try item promising 40 percent less salt added, 25 percent more protein, 4 times more calcium, 12 times less fat and 90 percent less calories than traditional Chicken Burgers. Aiming to help reduce salt intake, the key Superfood ingredient is Salicornia, a plant that replaces salt and delivers along with Quinoa and Kale, a healthy alternative with high nutritional profile, compared to regular chicken burgers. Salicornia eventually will be grown locally in partnership with local farmers, as it thrives in salty environments and is already known for its antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Recognizing the best new-to-industry technologies and product-specific innovations across the event’s 5000+ local, regional and international exhibitors, the Gulfood Innovation Awards featured 10 awards judged by a panel of industry leading chefs, retailers and food sector professionals.
