UAE, 26 October 2019 – In line with the global celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Dubai Government Workshop (DGW), in cooperation with Emirates Specialty Hospital, is organizing a breast cancer awareness campaign to further increase awareness about the disease, especially across DGW's female employees. The campaign is aimed at highlighting the benefits to be gained from doing early screening and detection in saving lives. The initiative falls in line with DGW's corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its keenness towards attending to the health and well-being of its female employees.
Ms. Zainab Ahmad Rashid Al Qasim, President of the Women's Committee, DGW, emphasized on the importance of preventive health care, especially in the efforts to combat breast cancer, which is the most common malignancy in women and the second most common cancer worldwide.
"In support of our commitment towards CSR, the DGW, in cooperation with Emirates Specialty Hospital, has launched this breast cancer awareness campaign to encourage our female employees to perform breast cancer screening and promote more awareness about this disease across the workplace, including the importance of knowing about the risk factors and benefits to be gained from early screening and detection."
"The main goal of this initiative is to maintain the health and wellbeing of our female employees, since we all know about the growing prevalence of breast cancer. We want to increase their knowledge of treatment and protection methodologies in the early stages of the disease. We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Emirates Specialty Hospital for their valuable support in our efforts to raise levels of health awareness among our employees--falling in line with UAE Vision 2021, which looks towards creating a comprehensive health system based on the highest global standards and help in the reduction of cancer rates in the UAE," concluded Al Qasim.
The campaign includes breast cancer awareness lectures and talks about the importance of early detection. DGW has also helped put up food stations, a blood sugar level & blood pressure testing station and a skin & complexion station.
