- Foremarke School is rated as ‘Very Good’ for second consecutive year
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (April 14, 2019) - Repton School, Dubai belonging to the Repton Family of Schools has once again been recognized as ‘Outstanding’ by the Dubai government’s education regulatory body, The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Foremarke School, belonging to the same family has been rated as ‘Very Good’.
Every year, the KHDA undertakes a comprehensive examination of educational institutions in the Emirate, where every school is rated according to certain performance standards. The Authority evaluates everything from the effectiveness of the school and learning environment to student achievements. Assessment criteria includes school leadership, student attitude and more.
The assessment covers the academic year 2018/2019, and this is the fifth consecutive year that Repton, the independent day and boarding school, located at Nad Al Sheba, has achieved the highest ranking possible. Repton’s pupils follow an academic programme based on the British National Curriculum from Early Years to Year 11. Thereafter, students study for the International Baccalaureate qualification, following either the Diploma or Careers Programmes.
The KHDA inspection report made particular reference to the importance of Innovation at the school, referring to this as ‘an intrinsic feature of teaching during lessons and other activities’ and recognizing that ‘students are acquiring excellent skills in innovation’. The teachers were cited as being ‘skillful, imaginative and engaging, motivating students to work hard.’
David Cook, Headmaster of Repton School, Dubai, comments: “We are delighted to have achieved this ‘Outstanding’ rating once again. We have embarked on a quest for excellence across all areas of our school; in academic and sporting pursuits, as well our pastoral care, and it’s thanks to our committed, passionate teachers and our very hard-working students that these efforts have been recognized by the KHDA”.
“As the number of schools increases in Dubai, we appreciate that parents have a very large choice when it comes to their children’s education. Being ranked as ‘Outstanding’ puts us front of mind for those whose children stand to benefit from the emphasis we place on creating well-rounded confident young people ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow’s world.”
Foremarke School, located in Al Barsha, is Dubai’s only Prep School catering for children from three to 13, providing a British Curriculum- based education. The KHDA report concluded that the school’s facilities were ‘outstanding’ as was the Personal Development of students. The focus on digital resources and their effectiveness was also recognised as 'strong commitment to innovation' and as an Apple school, 'providing students with 21st century learning experiences'. The school was also lauded for its teaching excellence, cited as ‘successful in enabling students to make progress’, ‘effective to prompt thinking, test understanding’ and ‘provide students with motivating and engaging learning activities’.
Zoe Woolley, Headmistress of Foremarke School comments: “We are very pleased with this rating which reflects the commitment and passion of both our teachers and students who work very hard across all subjects. We focus on the individuality of each student at Foremarke, encouraging every child to be the best they can, by inspiring all round confidence and self -belief; therefore, to have our personal development rated as outstanding is very positive. That we have been recognised for our digital innovation is very encouraging also, because it reinforces our status as an Apple Distinguished School, an accreditation which highlights our endeavours and the great progress we continue to make in digital literacy.”
