Millions of kids are competing to win the Toon Cup for their country
Dubai, 16th July 2018: Even as the FIFA World Cup has captured the imagination of football fans the world over, millions of kids are competing in the race to win Cartoon Network’s Toon Cup 2018. As worldwide rankings stand, Egypt leads the global leader-board from among 70 countries. Toon Cup encourages children to create their toon football teams using their favourite Cartoon Network characters, play against teams of kids from other countries and compete for the title by gaining maximum points. The country with the highest number of victories will be crowned winner on 31th July 2018.
In addition to Egypt, the top countries in the running from the Middle East region include Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Toon Cup is a multi-platform online football game for children, played on desktops, tablets and mobile phones via the Cartoon Network website or by downloading its mobile app for iOS and android devices. It has had more than half million downloads of the app with 4.1 million unique visitors playing the app and 1.1 million unique visitors playing the web experience. Over 15 million games have been played thus far, which is the equivalent of 12 games played every second and over 1 million matches are played every day.
New characters for Cartoon Network’s most successful game this year include Starfire and Cyborg from Teen Titans Go. A number of returning stars such as Ben 10, Gumball, Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time, Panda from We Bare Bears and the Powerpuff Girls are also available. This year’s edition features redeemable coins which are given if players successfully pass to a fellow teammate, tackle an opponent, score a goal or, most importantly, win a game.
