Last Update: Monday, March 19, 2018 : 10:28 (+4GMT)
At the Eiffel Tower restaurant Le Jules Verne and in presence of journalists and friends of the watchmaking brand, SAINT HONORE CEO Thierry Frésard unveiled a new watch from the eponym collection: Tour Eiffel 1885 “Opus 3”.
Dubai, UAE, March 19, 2018: . We can feel a certain effervescence at lunchtime in Le Jules Verne restaurant, on Eiffel Tower’s second floor. The venue was carefully chosen; Thierry Frésard, CEO of SAINT HONORE, has invited a few journalists from specialized press as well as friends of the watchmaking brand for the introduction of the new creation for the “Tour Eiffel” collection.
Opus 3, a new model for 2018
The Tour Eiffel 1885 “Opus 3” is the third addition to the collection.
SAINT HONORE made headlines in 2015 when introducing for the first time an automatic men’s watch featuring a bezel crafted from the steel girders of the Parisian monument. A women’s model was created a few months later. A limited edition was created in 2017, with 64 pieces of this exceptional design. The small seconds hand then became a stylized wheel which evokes the red elevators of the Eiffel Tower.
This year, in addition to the bezel made of steel from the Iron Lady, the watchmaking brand conceived a bracelet that also contains metal from the world-famous monument.
A bracelet made of “Eiffel Tower powder”
The major innovation of this Tour Eiffel 1885 Opus 3 watch lies in the bracelet made of a mixture of polyurethane and steel powder from the building itself. Thanks to an ingenious process and once cooled down, the material reveals a remarkable metallic surface patina. Produced one by one according to an artisanal technique, no two bracelets are alike: each is a one-off.
It is adorned with arches and lattices, a design inspired by the elements of Gustave Eiffel’s tower. Even more surprising on the reverse side, the bracelet bears the seventy-two researchers’ names which are engraved in gold letters on the tower, commemorating these engineers, scientists and industrials who honored France during the century leading to the Exposition Universelle of 1889.
Each bracelet of the Tour Eiffel 1885 Opus 3 watch is unique.
A piece of the Eiffel Tower on your wrist
Created in 2015 for the 130th anniversary of SAINT HONORE, the "Tour Eiffel" collection is the first and only timepiece in the world to feature a bezel crafted from the steel girders of the famous monument. In addition to this world exclusivity, today the French watchmaker introduces a bracelet containing particles of the very soul of the Eiffel Tower.
Powered by a self-winding Swiss Made "three-hands-and-date" movement, the "Tour Eiffel 1885 Opus 3" model is equipped with a 42mm steel watch case, and like all the models of the collection, it is adorned with a decoration of sculpted lattices. Directly inspired by the architecture of the "Iron Lady", the decoration brings a distinctive look to the bezel, crown, open worked dial and oscillating mass, of which the mechanism is visible through the transparent case back.
Among the 1885 pieces of the Tour Eiffel collection, 324 pieces of this Opus 3 will be available – another reference to the Iron Lady – and will provide aficionados of beautiful mechanical objects and technical innovations with a unique opportunity to wear a piece of History on their wrists. And if you have fallen for the charm of this incredible design, you can order it now on our e-shop.
