Alexey Firsov Solo Exhibition

New art collection to be showcased at Le Patio 

Dubai, UAE, March 11, 2018:  The St. Regis Dubai, in collaboration with Sulty Events and Entertainment and Alina Hannah, Client Advisory Middle East for Christie’s, will open the sixth installation of the “Perspective: Art Exhibition” featuring a solo exhibition by Russian artist, Alexey Firsov in the surrounding area of ‘Le Patio”, second floor St Regis Hotel Dubai.  The exhibition runs from 12th March 2018 until 12th May, 2018.

Alexey Firsov pioneered his own artistic style called Lavism, and he says it’s derived from explosive brush strokes, passionate colours, and bold thick texture. Firsov’s Lavism is inspired by ancient Russian art that can be seen in the 14th century Russian Orthodox Church of the Assumption on Volotovo field in the medieval city of Veliky Novgorod. He is also inspired by the medieval icon painter, Theophanes the Greek, who had a specific style of icon painting called plav (using thin layers of pain).

Alina Hannah, Client Advisory Middle East, Christie’s said: “We are very pleased to work on this exciting project with the St Regis Hotel, in collaboration with Sulty Events and Entertainment, and to bring Alexey Firsov’s art to Dubai for the first time. Firsov’s energetic and emotional paintings have enjoyed great success internationally and found their place in some of the most prominent art collections of the world. It is a great honour to introduce the artist’s works to the Middle East.”
