Women to take centre stage at Dubai International Symposium for Sports Creativity

Dubai, UAE, October 31, 2017: Empowering Women in Sports will be the theme at the 13th Dubai International Symposium for Sports Creativity this Wednesday as some of the leading ladies from the from the world of sport take the dais at the Palazzo Versace hotel to share their experience with the audience.
One of the initiatives of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Awards, the Dubai International Symposium for Sports Creativity has attracted an impressive list of speakers with Anita DeFrantz, a former Olympian and now Vice President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), taking the podium first. The American will be followed by Majdouline Cherni, the Tunisian Minister of Youth and Sports, while Dr Manahel Thabet, ranked among the 30 smartest people alive and President of the World IQ Foundation, will headline the third session.
DeFrantz, who was a member of the United States rowing team at the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics and won the bronze medal in the women’s eight, will talk about “Empowering Women in Sports” in the opening session, which will be moderated by Raya Ramal of Dubai TV.
One of the leading voices for gender-equality in the Olympic movement and the first female to become Vice President of the IOC executive committee when she was first voted to the seat in 1997, DeFrantz will have a wealth of experience to share.
In the second session, which will be moderated by Montaha Al Ramhi of Al Arabiya TV, Cherni will discuss the “Role of Women in Sports Organisations”, while Dr Thabet will talk about “Talent and Creative Thinking” in the third and final session, which will be moderated by Ramal.
