Sharjah Chamber Signs Protection Agreement with Etisalat

On the Sideline of its Participation in GITEX Technology Week
Sharjah, October 11, 2017: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) signed a protection agreement with Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat). The agreement aims to develop a system for protecting SCCI systems from all cyber-threats. It also aims to improve its digital security, data flow, and its network’s readiness to confront all potential threats in the future.
According to this agreement, the SCCI receives technical and consultation support from Etisalat to devise the necessary plans and develop solutions to maintain the safety of SCCI’s workflow. It also provides for establishing backup support plans to help prepare for setbacks that may result in disrupting work in case of digital security breaches.
The agreement was signed today (Tuesday) by His Excellency Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, and His Excellency Mohammed Al Omaimi, Acting General Manager of Etisalat Northern Emirates, at the SCCI pavilion at GITEX on the sideline of the two parties’ participation in the event.
His Excellency Abdallah Sultan Al Owais affirmed that the SCCI is committed to developing its technological infrastructure by employing cutting-edge systems and solutions that ensure providing the best services for its clients under all circumstances, all while guaranteeing the highest security standards.
Al Owais also noted that signing the agreement with Etisalat strengthens current cooperation between the two sides and serves the SCCI’s efforts to keep up with developments in IT and communications sector in the world by employing the latest innovations and best smart solutions and security services that would help the Chamber protect its digital infrastructure and improve its security.
For his part, Mohammed Al Omaimi, acting General Manager of Etisalat Northern Emirates said the agreement falls within the framework of a strategic plan that bolsters the standing relationship with the SCCI. It also embodies our commitment to supporting the efforts of the governmental and private sectors in the comprehensive development process and providing all technical support methods to achieve these directives. He also added that the main goal of the agreement is to provide IT security services for the Chamber which would contribute to developing the services it provides to its members.
In turn, Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant Director-General for Members Services at SCCI said: “the Chamber is showcasing a number of the services provided to its clients at GITEX, whether via its website or smartphone apps. SCCI is committed to developing modern and innovative services for its members and for the private sector in Sharjah.”
On a similar note, Abdulaziz Al Houli, Director of Information Technology at SCCI, said that the Chamber showcased at GITEX its mobile platforms which includes many information and services such as the “Know the Fees” service which informs clients and investors about membership fees according to their type of activity, leasing fees, and the legal for of the license. SCCI also showcased the “Partners in Investment” service which provides information for investors and members about the number of companies registered at the SCCI according to their type of activities.
